Aurum Jewellers

Aurum Jewellers has been creating handmade bespoke jewellery and objets d’art since 1968, the year that Jerseyman and newly qualified goldsmith Richard Blampied established a small workshop in St Helier.

At the historically significant Charing Cross premises, a team of 7 goldsmiths now occupy more spacious workshop premises above the elegant and busy shop below, skilfully interpreting and creating private commissions and Alexa Blampied’s award winning collections and designs, many inspired by Jersey’s natural beauty.

Several of the silver items on view which have been handmade in the workshop have a Jersey inspiration- for example the replica ‘bachins’, a copy of the traditional shallow cooking pot used in Jersey kitchens many years ago, and the striking and more contemporary parish tea or serving spoons depicting either the 12 parish crests, or corporate emblems.  These have proven to be highly collectable, with many people in the process of accumulating the entire set. The most recent addition to the Aurum handmade silver collection is a striking twisted torque bangle that was inspired by the valuable gold torque dating from c1000 BC, found in Jersey in 1889, and now at the Jersey Museum.

Silver items made in the workshop bear Richard Blampied’s registered silver hallmark, and also the Jersey crest, continuing the long standing tradition of Jersey silversmithing.

The traditional Jersey marriage datestone seen on old Jersey houses has inspired striking and romantic double heart pendants, hand made to order in gold or platinum with white or fancy coloured diamonds, and a romantic gesture for commemorating a happy partnership.

Almost anything can be designed by Aurum’s in house designer Alexa, and subsequently created by the talented and accomplished team, and usually within anyone’s budget. Apart from breathtakingly beautiful jewellery using precious stones personally sourced from around the world, customers have commissioned a very diverse range of items, ranging from a replica Jersey mace presented by the people of Jersey to Queen Elizabeth II, to a solid gold scale model of a Range Rover.
