A Fresh Face at the Helm of Genuine Jersey

Date: 17/03/2005 | Posted by John Garton
The Genuine Jersey Products Association is celebrating the end of a hugely successful year with a brand new committee member.

Jason Adams, general manager of the Atlantic Hotel, was unanimously elected last week as a committee member at the Association’s fourth Annual General Meeting. He replaces Kevin Keen, managing director of Jersey Dairy, who has stepped down after joining the committee in 2002.

Jason was proposed by Jonathan Jones, of Jersey Pottery, and seconded by Tim Crowley, of La Mare Vineyards, who are both founder members of the Association and existing committee members. His election marks an enthusiastic start to the relationship between the Association and the hotel, which was approved as the first hotel member in February.

Jason says: “The concept of Genuine Jersey is one that we fully support here at the Atlantic Hotel, particularly with the opening of our new restaurant, Ocean, which uses several of the Association’s members to source produce. We were excited to become a new member earlier this year and I am now looking forward to the challenge of being a part of the committee.”

Jason joins a committee which comprises Chairman Hamish Marett-Crosby; Vice-chairman Peter Tabb; three Economic Development Committee appointees, Jean L’Amy, Trevor Le Roux and Donna Le Marrec; members’ representatives Jonathan Jones and Tim Crowley; and management committee appointees Kathryn Price and Catherine Vint; and Jersey Farmers Union appointee Robert Le Quesne.

Welcoming Jason to the committee, Chairman of the Association, Hamish Marett-Crosby, says: “We are delighted that one of our newest members has taken such an interest in the Association. Kevin is a very hard act to follow and his contribution to the Association’s management will be sorely missed. However, we are confident that Jason will be a great addition to the committee. His role in promoting top quality Jersey cuisine can only help to raise the profile of the Association and reinforce our message about the quality and value of Genuine Jersey produce.
