Didier Hellio on Nigel and Adam's Farm Kitchen

Date: 25/11/2013 | Posted by John Garton
St Ouen farmers and Genuine Jersey members Didier and Christine Hellio feature in a national television programme to be shown at 8 pm on BBC 1 this Wednesday. Nigel And Adam's Farm Kitchen, features chef Nigel Slater and farmer and Countryfile presenter Adam Hanson.

The second episode of this four-part series will focus on seasonality with a segment of the programme dedicated to Jersey Royals. Nigel Slater visited the Island in June to film at the Hellio’s farm, Manor Farm, in Vinchelez in St Ouen and around the Island. This is the second time the Hellios have featured on national television. In June 2011 in an episode of ITV’s Countrywise that focused on Jersey, presenter Paul Heiney visited the farm to lift potatoes and enjoy a feast of Royals cooked fresh from the field.

Wednesday’s hour-long programme looks at the disappearing notion of seasonality. With imports and technology allowing us to eat whatever we want, all year round, the presenters aim to put us back in touch with nature's food cycle. They will also be looking at spring lamb. The first episode screened last Wednesday drew an audience of  five million.

In Nigel And Adam's Farm Kitchen, Nigel Slater and Adam Henson join forces to sow, grow, rear and cook Britain’s favourite foods from a working farm in the Cotswolds. Revealing the top-50 fresh foods on the UK’s supermarket shopping lists, they will show how we can get the most flavour, value and variety from them all.
