I'm Kirsten Miller, I qualified as a dressmaker in 1984 and have been sewing ever since. I have made bespoke clothing, wedding dresses, children's and adults clothing.

Lately I have developed an interest in up-cycling, which is like re-cycling except you take something old or useless and make it into something better. Using materials obtained from charity shops I have made silk tie dresses, men's shirts, jackets, skirts, and embellished hand and leg warmers. I am currently exploring various uses for seat belts and have produced a limited edition range of handbags, iPad/tablet covers and mobile phone covers.

Just before Christmas I started making dog collars and leads utilising the strength of the recycled seat belts combined with the comfort of a cotton fabric sewn over them. I like to work with unusual materials but always keep practicality in mind, my products are meant to be used.

I am also a primary school teacher, which limits the time I can spend at the sewing machine, so I have built a team around me who produce the product ideas I come up with in a very professional manner and get orders out in time.

As we're always innovating, if a customer sees something they like, they need to place orders quite quickly, because we might move onto the next idea within a couple of months. However, this "limited edition" approach keeps us happy and dedicated to the products we produce and makes the items more special to our customers.

Our clothing can be purchased at the Harbour Gallery in St. Aubin.  The dog collars and leads are available from the All Pets Veterinary Centre in St. Peter, or orders can be placed through our Facebook page.
