Gallery and ITV Channel on top form in royal battle for best potatoes

Gallery Magazine and ITV Channel shared top honours in the media section of the 11th Genuine Jersey Royal Potato Growing Competition. Gallery’s potatoes, grown by Ben Davies and Russ Atkinson, were the weightiest (1409.6g) while ITV Channel’s, grown by Marie Raine, had the most potatoes in their bucket (43).

In the Constable’s section, Deidre Mezbourian of St Lawrence had the most potatoes (43) and Juliette Gallichan of St Mary produced the heaviest crop (1692.2g). In the WI competition, Trinity (Sheila Le Var) grew the heaviest crop (1604.9g) and St Clement grew the most tubers (46).

In the new Age Concern section, Bucket 4 had the most potatoes (50) while Bucket 6 contained the heaviest crop (961.9g).

The Grand Weigh-In took place at Grouville Parish Hall on Thursday 25 May.
